Godly people have a calling in God’s kingdom to follow Christ diligently and serve Him faithfully. The goal is to finish this life strong in faith and faithfulness.
It is not enough to start strong in the Lord and the power of His might; people must know what it takes to finish strong in the Lord. To do that, each person must know how to optimally live the promises given to them by Christ, which defines being a strong disciple and being able to transfer Christ’s life to other people effectively, making disciples.
An optimal disciple will always be a disciple maker and finish this life well.
The purposes of gathering people from various fellowships together are many:
Since each person must become aware of how Christ is discipling them, the approach of our teaching and giving insight is through questions. Some of the questions that have and will continue to frame the breakfast discussions and teaching are:
· How has Christ already been discipling you?
· What was happening in your life when you experienced spiritual growth?
· What are the promises Jesus Christ has given through your encounter with His glory and goodness? 2 Peter1:3-4
· How are you intentionally cultivating His precious promises, like seed, into the soil of your soul?
· How do you cooperate with the Holy Spirit and His disciplines to enhance your growth in Christ and walking in the Spirit?
· How are you encouraging others to grow in their spiritual formation?
· Who are your discipling?
Monthly an 8-9:30 am breakfast is planned at a local church’s Fellowship Hall. The Finishing Strong ministry provides all the food and drink and arrives early to prepare for breakfast. All cleanup of the facility is taken care of by the ministry. Finally, the facilitator of the discussion is also provided by the Finishing Strong ministry.
The goal of providing all the food, preparation, and cleanup is to encourage people to follow Christ and serve the local church. The Finishing Strong ministry does not want to add any cost or burden to the hosting church.
Finishing Strong Saturday breakfast meeting ends with everyone being invited to attend follow-up discussion groups at various locations. These discussion groups are scheduled after breakfast, usually in a week or two.
· The Finishing Strong ministry will continue all the above activities
· We are deeply grateful to God for opening the doors of various local church Fellowship Halls to host the ‘Finishing Strong’ ministry breakfasts. This past year, First Christian Church, Love Chapel, Centenary Methodist Church, and Unicoi Christian Church have all hosted one or more breakfast meetings. We are thankful for their support and hope to see many more churches in Unicoi County following their lead.
