   Marriage, family, and our community of believers are where discipleship begins. This is where God starts teaching us to follow Christ. If we struggle here, we have little to share with those who do not know Christ. If we do well, it is only because of God’s grace.

   I serve Christ because I am deeply grateful for His sacrifice on the Cross, which healed the broken parts of my life. I now see that my obedience to Him starts each day at home as I seek His face through the personal promises He has given me. This love empowers me to love my wife as Christ loved the church. Anything less falls short of His command. He tells us to love one another as He has loved us.

   The Finishing Strong Discipleship Ministry is inspired by 2 Peter 1. By following Peter’s path, we can receive the Holy Spirit’s power and grace to live in a way that honors God and shows love to others. We finish strong for God’s glory when we encourage others with hope, grace and love supporting them grow in their walk with Christ.

   I believe the Bible is God’s Word. When we humbly obey Christ’s personalized promises to us, each of us can become the optimal disciple God wants us to be. If someone is not willing to follow God’s Word in their life, they are not living in reality. God uses our relationships to help us become more like Christ. This kind of fellowship comes as we worship Jesus daily and trust God’s promises through the Holy Spirit.

   As you join the Finishing Strong ministry, I hope you are encouraged to think, walk, and live in ongoing repentance, responding to God’s love shown in Jesus Christ.
